What Next?

Well, it is the end of the semester now, and i can truly say that i learned a great deal from this class. When we did our KWL charts in the beginning of the class, there were only a few things that i knew about computer technology, many things that i wanted to learn, and we had to leave the learned column blank. Well, my learned column is full of answers and excitement as to how much i actually did learn this semester. I would say that i probably know seventy percent more information about computers and the programs that we attacked in this course.
I was very happy with the way our course went. The work was spread out well over the course of the semester (although i fell a little behind inthe end), and the enthusiasm behind the class was great...i mean your enthusiamsm Mr.Gentile. I could tell that you enjoy teaching and that you knew the material from the subject that you taught well. Overall, your teaching style was great and full of tips to us as future teachers which i loved. The only thing that i thought might be more helpful for students or even more pleasing is if you gave out actual assignments in class instead of making every assignment homework. two hours and forty-five minutes is a lot of time for you to be standing in front of a class talking. This part of the class is what i did not like as much because although you were teaching us the material, we could have actually been completing an assignment in class and learning hands on how to do it, rather than getting home and being lost because since we didnt have to do it in class, not everyone paid attention. So, i'd say everything was great but it would be better if there were some in-class assignments, and some homework.
Now that i have taken this course, i have more ideas for my classroom when i finally do get my degree in education. I look forward to using these application to enhance my teaching-style and materials provided for better learning comprehension of the students.

Web Based Tool

My favorite web-based tool that we learned how to use was the wiki. The wiki can be used for not only education purposes but for personal and business purposes as well. I feel that i learned a lot from being taught how to use a wiki. We learned that you can use wiki's to aid you as a teacher, as far as parental help and support for the children, and contact through co-workers/colleagues about daily questions or what may be going on that week.
I also thought that the wiki was a great web based tool to learn how to use because it could be helpful to use as a business promoter or even sales-system. When you make a wiki, it is fair game, meaning that you can write on it and change things yourself when you want to without anyone being able to change or trash your site. So you can put whatever materials, advertisements, and information on it that you want to. This system would be great for entrpreneurs, and people that are just starting to get their businesses off of the ground.
The wiki's were also impressive to me because you can add links to your page from different sites. I know that technology has grown a lot over the past ten years, and pretty much every computer system can create links, but i just learned how to create them on microsoft word and i was fascinated by that so obviously this excites me! I am just glad that i got the opportunity to learn how to function this type of site. I'm not much of a computer person but coming out of this class has really opened my eyes to the fact that this new technology age isnt hard to get into, you just have to learn and be taught how to use the newest gadgets and programs.
